Aggie Nyagari-Salt is a film and TV director, producer and editor best known for the comedy/crime thriller 'Janjaruka' (Wisen-up) , a web series that tackles the subject matter of living with con and corruption in Nairobi. The series was released on YouTube for free streaming to public audiences in August 2019 and the channel grew to attract decent views with live audience engagement throughout its 17 week run. Aggie also directed the award-winning feature film 'Lisilojulikana', (The Unknown) in 2015, which won the Dodie Spittal award at the Picture This Film Festival in Calgary, Canada in April 2018. The film tackles the taboo subject of living with cerebral palsy in a society that believes disability to be a curse. The film has since been translated into several languages including Chichewa to widen its audiences across African countries. Aggie has also produced and directed short films including 'Squeaky Bike' (2016) and 'Vacant' (2023) both filmed in Bristol, UK, and the Sci-Fi short film 'Wormhole' (2022) that was filmed remotely during the pandemic between Bristol (UK), Nairobi (Kenya) and Thessaloniki (Greece). Applying humor, interesting characters and an engaging plot, Aggie aims to entertain audiences whilst telling compelling, thought-provoking stories inspired by real events or that tackle social issues.
