Benoit Felici is a French-Italian filmmaker graduated from the ZeLIG film school in Italy. His films have been shown on ARTE, France Televisions, YLE, RDI-Radio Canada, etc In 2013 he received the Foundation Lagardère's Excellence Grant as young documentary author. In 2014 he was an alumni of the Berlinale Talents / Doc Station. His film Unfinished Italy was a journey into the remains of incomplete buildings scattered throughout rural Italy, and which had turned into ruins. The film received 18 international awards (Documenta Madrid, Premiers Plans d'Angers) and was screened at international film festivals. In The Real Thing, Benoit follows the path that led him to « Unfinished Italy » and brings his reflection to a new focus: the world's architectural replicas, the reality of life in fake surroundings. The Real Thing is a bi-Media Project combining a Virtual Reality film and a Feature Documentary and both films were screened in numerous international film festivals around the world as Toronto HotDocs, BAFICI Buenos Aires, Sheffield Doc/Fest, Future of Storytelling NY,True/False, Busan film Festival, Cleveland Film festival, DokLeipzig, etc ; and won several awards as the Best Cinematography at the RAINDANCE film Festival in London 2019.
