Born in Philadelphia, Dezur moved to New Hampshire at the age of 10. At 5 years old Kenna made her stage debut in "Circus Daze," a community theater production also starring her Dad, Mark. An excellent singer, her teen and young adult career focused heavily on musicals. She worked as a singer in several cover bands in the late 1970s. Moving to Manhattan in 1980 Dezur had a series of sublets and part-time jobs while pursing her dream of Broadway. She found her way into television when her neighbor, then a staff writer on NBC's "Late Nite with Conan O'Brien" asked her to submit her head shot to play Andy Richter's mom. She was cast and shot the scene with Andy and Conan in an NBC men's room - with Conan at the urinal. She continues to perform, but began writing seriously in the early 2000s. She authored the stage play "The Isle of Grace" and, in 2010 developed The Lieve & Needy Series alongside writing and performance partner, Eric Johnson. The series focuses on two energetic entertainers from Millerville, SD whose mission is to spread their mantra "small town livin' for a big time life." A Lieve & Needy web series is in development.
