Born in Beckley, West Virginia, to US citizens who moved to China in 1982, Joshua Hannum grew up in China. He began performing on stage during his junior year of high school at the International School of Beijing, after singing for a friend in the back of a taxi and then being strongly encouraged to try out for the choir. Joshua went on to be awarded the Outstanding Choir Member award, and to perform as the lead in the International School of Beijing's junior and senior year large-scale productions. As a junior, he was Seymour in 'Little Shop of Horrors', and as a senior he was Skye Masterson in 'Guys and Dolls'. After graduating high school, Joshua attended university in the United States. Although he was expected to pursue music and drama, he pursued a business degree and graduated with a BBA from Loyola University Chicago. Following university graduation, he quickly decided that business was not his line of work and began again to seek performing. He went to an open call casting and was signed with FORD Modeling Agency in Chicago, and ultimately followed a path that brought him back to China. As a model, Joshua has worked runway and events with top global fashion houses and companies including Gucci, Chanel, Christian Dior, Roberto Cavalli, Cartier, Ermenegildo Zegna, Lamborghini, and Mercedes Benz, to name a few. Joshua has continued to perform on stage in China taking on the role of Bill Sykes in 'Oliver Twist' at The People's Liberation Army Theatre and memorizing the script of 'Love Letters' to perform as Andy Ladd. Since being in China, Joshua has appeared in several commercials shown on the mainland and has ventured into film acting, appearing as the lead in his first feature film, Once Upon a Time in Tibet, filmed in Tibet.
