Bret Polish is a Los Angeles-based filmmaker with a desire to make the world a better place. In May 2016 he earned his Master's in Film Production and completed his thesis film, So Far From God, an adaptation of a scene from his feature film script, Esperanza. So Far From God went on to win Best Picture at the Loyola Marymount Film Outside the Frame competition and will be premiering at the Urbanworld, Cine Magnifico, and Viva! Latino Film Festivals this September. while the script for Esperanza was a finalist in Francis Ford Coppola's American Zoetrope screenplay competition and has been selected for the Oaxaca Filmfest. Esperanza was also one of the projects selected for the Film Independent Incubator Lab (2016 - 2017). Esperanza is based on Bret's experiences with undocumented students, family members, and friends. In making this film, Bret seeks to raise awareness of the plight of undocumented Latino/a children so that Americans can develop a more humane immigration system.
