The Mental and Physical Health Characteristics of Homeless Women In Tucson, Arizona 2001 A Masters in Social Work Research Thesis completed in partial fulfillment of the Masters of Social Work Degree, Arizona State University, 2002 Utilizing two valid and reliable measuring instruments The John Ware SF36 and El Rio Health Clinic Mental Health Status Exam with author added questions dealing specifically with homelessness, hopes and dreams. 72 women volunteered to be individually interviewed from 12 local organizations including Pima County Jail. Interviews took place with random population sampling winter, spring summer. Author interviewed 53 female volunteers personally. Governor Janet Napolitano (Head of Homeland Security)wrote the author a personal letter of praise and stated she was giving the study to her staff to assist in her policy development making process 2004-2009.
