Born in New Orleans, LA the last of 5 children, Ray wrote proficiently at an early age (10) winning a contest on radio station WTIX for the best essay on what made him proud to be an American. He attended Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic school in Kenner, LA until 1960 and then went on to graduate from East Jefferson High School in 1964. Married just out of high school he developed/produced his own live television dance show that aired on Saturday mornings on the first UHF television station in the city, WWOM, while attending Delgado Community College. The "Out of Limits" as it was called was a breakthrough concept for the time as one of only 2 African American programs on air in the city. After a one year successful run Ray entered the Air National Guard heading to Lackland AFB, San Antonio, Texas and then to tech training at Keesler AFB, Biloxi, Mississippi. Upon his return to New Orleans he went to work for All South Distributors as the local record promotion person, representing over 100 record labels in Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and parts of the western panhandle of Florida. After All South he went to work as regional promotion manager for the southern U.S. area with Playboy Records. Moving to Los Angeles to pursue a screen writing career Ray joined SEG and did extra work until entering the DGA and becoming an assistant director. While working as an A.D. he produced a musical concept project called "Love's Passion Fulfilled" designed as a soundtrack for a romantic evening. After leaving Los Angeles he wrote, produced and directed a short film in San Francisco which was entered into consideration for the 1992 Academy Awards. Ray retired to manage his investment portfolio and lives in Phoenix, AZ.
