Jara Morales

Jara Morales was born in Ponce, Puerto Rico. At an early age her mother moved her to the San Juan metropolitan area, specifically in Bayamon, where she was raised. Jara began performing in school plays as early as the 4th grade when she played Joy Murrath in a grade school production of "Brian's Song". From then on she participated in all her school plays and excelled at school theater competitions all the way through high school such as oratory and forensics (monologues in Spanish and English). After graduating from high school she enrolled at the University of Puerto Rico and studied drama under such Puerto Rican greats as Dean Zayas, Teofilo Torres and Idalia Perez Garay. She was also accepted at "Ateneo de Puerto Rico" under the tutelage of Edgar Quiles and Roberto Ramos Perea, where she played the role of Amelia, a prostitute in "Cristal roto en el tiempo". Jara then traveled to Mexico City to complete acting courses in television and film. She also performed the title role in a Puerto Rican version of "Antigone", entitled "La pasion segun Antigona Perez" by Luis Rafael Sanchez. In "Nosotras lo hacemos mejor" she played a nameless character discovering her sexuality. Her monologues include: "Vlad the Impaler", where she played Lucretia. She also excelled as a pot headed university student named Rosita in the play "La muda de los montereal". She was personally recommended by professor Teofilo Torres to work at the Diplo Theater in downtown Rio Piedras (borough of San Juan), there she met and worked for legendary street performer Moncho Conde in the play "Cuatro paredes negras", where she played the role of Socorro, one of six sisters coping with the sudden loss of their mother. Next came her most ambitious role yet, she played Beatriz, a college student who falls in love with her her middle aged professor in "40 y 20". This role was daring and moving as her character came to terms with the losses of her lover. In this role she had an on stage nude scene. Now she lives in Los Angeles, California to continue her career in the film industry.
