First Generation American of Colombian and Peruvian Decent. Prefers to classify as (Resident of Pangea) Born October 8th, 1991 in Wayne Hospital New Jersey, Frequently moved around North Jersey, Neighborhoods such as Paterson, Prospect Park, Ogdensburg and Buddlake. He went to Wallkill HS for his freshman year & Graduated from Mount Olive High School in 2010. Derek Zuzunaga developed a love for cinema when at a young age, and without permission, he started borrowing movies from his brother-in-law's DVD collection. Films like Casino, Scarface, Catch me if you Can, It was when first seeing Danny Zuko in "Grease" that he was driven to pursue his passion and start a career in acting. After years of disappointment, Zuzunaga finally Landed a role in his first short film "A tear in the Fabric 2005" ever since then he started to see progress with strong performances in independent productions and appearances on shows such as Netflix's The Characters and HBO's The Deuce. His talents landed him featured roles on bigger productions, receiving direction from legends such as Morgan Freeman, Steven Spielberg, and Martin Scorsese. After developing friendships with and learning from the filmmakers behind the projects, he grew inspired to make a different type of impact on the industry and wanted to get involved behind the camera. Zuzunaga assisted Latin American superstar Guillermo Ivan in producing Welcome to Acapulco, starring Michael Madsen and Paul Sorvino. Learning from the experience, he then decided to produce his first short film "Oh What a Day"...
