Kelmend Karuni

Kelmend (Keld) Karuni, was born in Tirana, Albania. With his father being a documentary cinematographer, Kelmend was raised and influenced by movies, "pelikula", film projections at home and filming in remote locations following his father's expeditions. After living in a sequence in Romania, France and Spain, Kelmend graduates from the Academy of Arts of Tirana in film directing, his mentor being the late director Gjergj Xhuvani. Since then Kelmend has been selected in Berlinale and Sarajevo Talent pool, has written, shot and directed many documentaries aired in national televisions and selected in festivals, has directed and written features and shorts screened in national cinemas and selected in festivals. Kelmend now lives and works between Toronto, Canada and Tirana, Albania.
