Verner Maldonado is a first-generation Director/Producer with roots grounded from Los Angeles to Miami and a soul from Guatemala. With an acute drive and emotionally charged passion for filmmaking; he is a well-rounded individual in his career from most recently achieving accords such as the Grand Prize for his short film Swim along with Best Directing and Best Cinematography. Prior to that, it was Audience Choice and Best College Short for his previous film The Father. Additionally, he's had honorable mentions and concept acquisitions with commercial companies such as PlayStation, Best Buy, and Haagen-Dazs. Besides his own personal body of work he also keeps a close relationship with Blockbuster Projects, working staff for feature films such as F. Gary Gray's Straight Outta Compton, Michael Bay's Pain an Gain, Shane Blacks' Iron Man 3, and Matt Reeves' Dawn of The Planet of The Apes. After working as the Insert Director for Michael Bay's hit television series The Last Ship, Verner worked on the Patty Jenkins/Chris Pine produced Mini-Series I Am The Knight as the Executive Assistant to Premium Cable Television Director Carl Franklin. Currently, he has wrapped up shooting inserts once again but on the upcoming ABC network show The Fix produced by Marcia Clark. Verner is also a Directing Mentee under the 2018 Ryan Murphy Half Foundation Directing Mentorship. His next project is a feature film currently in development to be produced in the next 2 years.
