Gary was born in Lincoln England, he grew up on Birchwood Estate, like most kids of the 60s it was tough growing up, but the closeness of like minded families on the estate forged lifelong memories. Gary went out to Australia in 1964, he entered the film and TV industry in 1974 at AAV Melbourne, he rapidly rose through the ranks, eventually landing at Channel 7 in Brisbane. He went on his own in 1980 and wrote and directed the award winning documentary 'Jack The Ripper The Final Solution' of which he shot at Pinewood Studios and on the heavy streets of the east end of London. Michael Caine's company used most of Gary's research for the movie version Jack the Ripper. Gary has a large following of 'Ripper fans' who continually refer to his ground breaking documentary, he recently did a live cross to a packed Ripper convention in UK. He regularly receives emails and constant messages to talk about Jack The Ripper. Gary now writes as a full time screenwriter, he has written a 6 part Gothic Thriller with supernatural overtones. It's a torrid ride. It ticks all the boxes for great entertainment. Sir John Hurt was a supporter and mentor for Gary's Gothic script Hadrianus, John and Gary would converse across the world at hideous times, when John passed it was a great loss. Gary wrote the movie version of the series at the behest of Sir John he believed it should also be a feature film, needless to say, it's exciting, dark, lustrous,, and extremely sexy. The characters are well crafted, Gary has been lauded by some very heavy hitting industry icons of television and film who represent four Emmy Awards of their own achievements. The latest offering is 'Mary 3691' a bitter sweet feature script set in 60's England, aimed at a small but tragic window in the life of Mary O'Brien aka Dusty Springfield. It's an extremely touching script with some real life personalities. Already this script is garnering much interest in UK. Andrew Wood producer (The Last King of Scotland & The Laureate) is on board as producer. Another script is ready for producing, 'Two Penny Prince' a 60's 70's drama on a brief part of frontman Marc Bolan and the last days of his short but eventful life. His early friendship with David Bowie and how they changed the music scene is phenomenal. It's a heartfelt journey that changed all our lives. The soundtrack is a relative time machine, as is Gary's forte. Gary has the ability to write scripts that are entertaining and a wonderful ride. But most of all I think his scripts are aimed at being very affordable to make and extremely profitable. With over 500 million album sales dealing with his subjects in last two film scripts alone, Mary '3691' Dusty Springfield and Two Penny Prince. Has all the hallmarks that investors require. Gary has a natural ability to write visually, 45 years of being a cameraman director has paid off handsomely. Personally I love his writing and his choice of excellent soundtracks he partners with his scripts. He is a genuine entertainer. Not leaving his much beloved 'Gothic' roots behind he has also begun writing 'The Book of Daemon' an extension of his character in Dark Fall and Hadrianus. This will be a wonderfully dark feature which Gary excels at. After reading 'Dark Fall' the movie version of 'Hadrianus' (series) Daemon Piper, the devils right hand minion wreaks havoc on the weakness of mankind, The Vatican is sacked and the world is plunged into chaos. An incredible journey! (UK) Freelance journalist. (The Guardian)
