Devanand Mahakud is an Indian film and theatre Director-Actor and Writer. Devanand made his directorial debut with the short film Koshish - it's a beautiful day, based on the increasing divorce rate in India. As a filmmaker, he is known for the short film Laapata, a film based on the rejection and denial of rape survivors. He started his journey into the world of films in 2012 as an actor with the short-film 'Satkaara' - a part of Yes! I'm the change festival by Yes Bank. He has worked as a Stage Manager with Jagriti Theatre for the play 'All About Women' - a part of Deccan Herald Theatre Festival 2015, Bangalore and also as the Production Head for Jagriti's children Production 'The Twits' and Production Assistant and Video Incharge for Jagriti's Production 'Charandas Thief! Born and brought up in a small village in Odisha - Ratanga in Kondhamal, he completed his Masters in Economics from Ravenshaw University in Cuttack. He believes in making meaningful films that helps to bring change in the society.
