Stefanie Andrea Marty was born on 16 April 1988 in Nussbaumen, Switzerland. She is a professional ice hockey player, who plays Syracuse University in the United States. Stefanie has been a member of the Swiss National Team since 2003. In 2005 she was nominated to be Swiss Hockey Woman of the Year. From 2003 until 2007, Stefanie Marty played for the EV Zug in the Swiss league. She also participated in the 2006 Winter Olympic Games in Turin. The team finished at 8th place. Four years later, at the Vancouver Winter Games, Marty tied the Olympic record for most goals scored in a single tournament with nine and helped Switzerland to finish at fifth place. Stefanie Marty scored two goals in a 5-2 victory, captured the bronze medal at the 2012 IIHF World Women's Championships. During the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Stefanie was part of the winning team that nailed the bronze medal against Sweden in the playoffs. She shared that proud moment with her teammate and twin sister Julia Marty.
