James began his acting career with the role of Danny Zuko in Grease and Claudio in Much Ado About Nothing, among other theatre roles, before being invited into VCA's three year full time acting course, where he developed a wide repertoire of acting techniques and disciplines. James is perfect for "anomaly" characters such as the Greek king Agamemnon or the coming-of-age Quick Lamb in Cloudstreet. His character work and comedic timing has also taken audiences by surprise with over-the-top roles such as Billy Flynn in Roxy Hart. Often likened to James McAvoy and Bradley Cooper, James is well suited to a romantic character, suave upstart, or to a comedic straight-man. With a street-smart grunginess that he wears on his sleeve, he also fits much grittier roles such as street fighter, vengeful cop, or psychologically scarred criminal. His second-degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do and training in both amateur and pro-wrestling (the Olympic and the theatrical kinds) also suit him to action roles.
