Dias Azimzhan (birth name: Dias Azimzhanov) is a writer, director, actor, and producer from Kazakhstan (Qazaqstan). He was born and raised in Ayagoz, a town in Eastern Kazakhstan, geographically considered as the heart of Eurasia. Being interested in writing and having a great admiration for the classic and modern literature from a very early age, helped him develop his own storytelling style and language, and inspired him to write not only stories and blogs but also TV and film scripts. Dias is fluent in Kazakh (Qazaq), Russian and English. During the high school, he also performed in school projects. Once he finished the secondary school, Dias moved to Almaty city and graduated from the Kazakh National University, as a journalist & publicist. In the time period from 2012 to 2015, as Dias stated in few of his interviews, he discovered the World, learned Japanese and familiarized with different cultures and traditions, specifically with Far Eastern and Western European cultures. In 2015 he moved to Los Angeles, California, to pursue his Master's Degree in Filmmaking, where he has done his debut short film Moments of Enlightenment, which was well accepted by film critics and awarded by several U.S. and international film festivals. In summer 2016 he wrote and directed his second film ULTIO in Glendale, California (World premiere at the Cannes Film Festival 2017). Dias also directed the Tai-Tai Show, a popular TV show (aired on local TV channels 'Qazaqstan' and 'Balapan') based on famous Japanese franchise called 'Go Baby Go'. In Spring 2017 Dias made his debut in the music industry as a clip-maker and directed his first music video Q13-Zhalgyzym. In Summer 2017 he made his acting debut in the urban fantasy drama Cloud on the Roof (Theatrical release - Winter, 2018). In Autumn 2017 he wrote and directed a short film Interius (World premiere - Winter, 2018). According to Dias' public pages, he is in process of developing a screenplay for a full-length film. As he stated in one of his interviews, his storytelling style does not rely much on dialogues, and he prefers to tell stories mostly through the actor's performance and camera work. He aims to create projects that are less descriptive and more visual and character-driven. Dias also strives to degrade language and cultural barriers and create work that is comprehensible throughout the world.
