Alfonso Loya

Alfonso Loya is a film director and composer born and raised in Cd. Juarez, Mexico. At the age of 12 he moved to the U.S., a couple of years later he was introduced to his first musical instrument, the drums. As the years passed he picked up more instruments, such as the violin, guitar, harmonica and piano. He joined the mariachi program in High School and that's where most of his music training happened. After High School he continued playing mariachi in a professional level. In 2012 he joined the CMI (Creative Media Institute) program at New Mexico State University, where he was pursuing a degree in Digital Filmmaking. During his time in CMI he got to learn so much about the art of story telling and all the aspects of filmmaking, such as sound, editing, writing, acting, storyboards, cinematography, producing and directing. He also got to score some short films for his fellow students as well as some of his own. He directed a couple of short films including his Senior Thesis Film "Thomas". In December of 2016 he graduated with a Bachelors in Digital Filmmaking. Early in 2017 he started a production company In Cadence Films with filmmaker Tony Marquez where he continues to direct and score films.
