Merlin Pitois

Originary from Britanny (France) where he studies History and Politics, it's in Rennes that Merlin first approaches cinema. He works as a journalist and film critic for local press and radios. He also worked there in several short films productions as first assistant director. Afterwards, he moves to Casablanca (Morocco) where he works for three years with famous Moroccan filmmakers: Nabil Ayouch, Hicham Lasri... He develops a stage play in Casablanca called 'Sleuth', adapted from Anthony Shaffer's eponym screenplay, in which he plays the main character and signs the staging. He also plays in several Moroccan film productions, including 'Starve your dog' from director Hicham Lasri (selected in Toronto, Dubaï and Berlin international film festivals). He wrote short film screenplays ('La Cage', 'The Arena') and a TV long feature film for Moroccan director Abdelhaï Laraki. 'La Cage' is the Merlin Pitois' first short film.
