Makenna was born to David and Lora Rhode in Indianapolis, Indiana. When Makenna was 2 1/2 her family moved out of the city to start a small family homestead. Makenna and her 3 sisters enjoy all the happenings around the farm. Her farm family includes a horse, Nubian goats, chickens, ducks, turkeys, Lionhead rabbits, Great Pyrenees Livestock Guardians and Buddy the house dog. This enthusiastic young talent started dance training at the age of 9. Through her hard work, dedication, and determination she made the competitive team at her dance studio just 6 months after her first recreational class. One year later she made the Elite Company Competition Dance Team. Makenna's favorite forms of dance include Ballet, Contemporary, Lyrical, and Tap styles. She is also trained in Jazz, Hip Hop, Modern and Ballroom. She loves performing and competing on the stage. She has received numerous awards in group and solo dance performances; to include several photogenic awards and National Champions for the Company's Production Number in 2019. I wish that I could say that I discovered this amazing young talent. It was at a 2010 horror convention that I met Makenna and her personality caught my eye. At that time, I was in the beginning stages of writing The Vampire Santa Chronicles and I decided to write her a small role. The truth is, she has been very interested in acting and has been developing her performance skills for some time now. It has been 10 years between that first meeting and the filming of The Vampire Santa Chronicles. Makenna came on set more prepared than some of her senior, experienced co-actors. She had her lines memorized and expressed them very well and managed to impress the entire cast and crew when she nailed her first take! That is when I decided to expand upon Makenna's character and write more lines for her throughout the movie. Makenna is excited for this new journey to grow and be challenged as an actress. With her passion, continued family support and good opportunities, I have little doubt in her future as an accomplished actor.
