Alex Paun

After studying Philosophy, Alex Paun worked for one of the most important Romanian publishing houses. Dozens of volumes have passed through his hands, from classic authors of world literature (Shakespeare, Rabelais, Melville, Henry James, Baudelaire, Flaubert, Proust, Joyce) to history of ideas or philosophical treatises. In 2013, together with a few friends, he established Calderon Society. Active in Bucharest, the society organises meetings with great figures of the Romanian public life, a book club, and intellectual training courses. Over the years, Calderon events have hosted renowned guests like Maia Morgenstern, Dan C. Mihailescu, Radu Paraschivescu, Carmen Musat, Sorin Alexandrescu, Teodor Baconschi, Sorin Antohi, Mircea Flonta, Calin-Andrei Mihailescu, or Ana Barton. As of 2016, he has been part of the team that is in charge of the documentary "Untamed Romania". He coordinated parts of the post-production. He wrote the end of the script, led the recording session with actor Victor Rebengiuc (the voice-over of the documentary), stylistically guided the composition of the soundtrack, co-opted scientists to check the scientific accuracy of the narrative, worked on the final sound mix, chose the translators of the documentary in other languages, and contributed to the international distribution.
