Lewis was born in Birmingham, UK and is a graduate of the BA (Hons) Creative Arts degree at Oxford Brookes University. People usually seek the familiar in films, whether it be a familiar genre, actors, or a specific kind of emotional gratification. Lewis believes that the kind of films he wants to create can only come from such a place of unfamiliarity. He is constantly looking to make a connection between British society and bizarre horror, mixing the mundane and the fantastical, resulting in films that are often as distressing as they are willfully strange.
