Leonardo Piragibe Freire

Leo Freire is a Brazilian born musician, living in New York since 2004, accumulating extensive experience as a drummer, backing vocalist, and music director. Some of the artists he has worked and performed with include Wheatus (global multi-platinum hit with "Teenage Dirtbag"), Andrew W.K., Darryl "DMC" McAndrew (Run DMC), Flatbush Zombies (Top 10 Billboard 200), Viktor Király (Hungary No. 2 Top 40), Fly By Midnight (No. 6 Spotify Global Viral 50), and more. His touring experience has included shows throughout the United States, Europe, and Brazil. Recent tours have included the 39 date 2017 Wheatus UK/ Ireland/ European tour, which included 7 countries and ended with a performance at the historic Isle of Wight Festival. Other touring highlights have included drumming on Wheatus' 2016 18 date Arena tour supporting UK group Busted, which featured sold-out performances at some of the world's biggest selling venues such as the O2 Arena London, Glasgow SSE Hydro, Manchester Arena, and Wembley Arena. He was also a member of the 42 date 2015 Wheatus 15th anniversary European tour, in which he played drums for both headlining and support artists Wheatus and Mike Doughty, headlining festivals in Germany and Ireland, and also appearing on the Ray D'Arcy show, featured live on Ireland's premiere TV network RTÉ One. He was featured as a writer, arranger, and performer on the original soundtrack for the 2017 feature documentary "Black and White Stripes: The Juventus Story." He participated as a guest performer in the film's South American premiere in Rio de Janeiro, being featured in the national Brazilian TV channel Globo and newspaper 'O Globo'. The film further embarked on an international world tour of its release in cities such as London, New York, Los Angeles, Berlin, Dubai, and Beijing. He also performed on the MTV/ VH1/ CMT 2013 O Music Awards Drumathon, alongside Andrew W.K, sharing the bill with drummers including ?uestlove (The Roots), Chad Smith (Red Hot Chili Peppers), and Marky Ramone (The Ramones), among others.
