JustinZ is a Chinese-American singer-songwriter, record producer, actor, and director. He was born on May 26, 2004, in Guangzhou, China. In 2013, he moved to Los Angeles in hopes to further pursue his passion in Hollywood. His love for music sparked when he got introduced to the piano at the age of 4. He then ventured into playing other instruments such as guitar and drums. After getting inspired by many self-produced artists, he began composing and producing original music at the age of 11. After years of working with industry professionals, he founded his record label The Red/Black Label, and signed several aspiring artists in 2019. He envisioned the record label as a platform to elevate Asian-Amerian talent in the American music industry. Over the years, he had produced and directed many music videos, for his signed artists as well as himself. Some projects included Tell Me We're Ok (2020), Blossom (2020), and his Gold Remi Award-winning music video Dreams (2021). While preparing for a gig in 2017, he caught the eyes of the producer/director Rachel Zhou and got cast in his first short film The Catcher (2017). With his start in the film industry, he continued on with appearances in How to Live Your Life Correctly (2018) and Shadow of Love (2019). In 2021, director Bruce Chiu came across his music and wanted to cast him as a composer for his short film Imperfectly Complete (2021), a film produced by the University of Southern California.
