Pamella Jameslyn Carrington-Coutte (born 3 July 1959) is the daughter of stage actress Lady Pamella-Jane Carrington de Coutte (1925-1959) and film actor James Roberts. She began her acting career at the age of 3 mouths. Her first stage appearance was at 18 months of age. She has featured in more than 20 films and 32 stage plays during her acting career. As a child actress, she followed in her father's foot steps into film, while in her teens she favoured her mother's love of the stage. In 1958-59, Pamella-Jane was playing Lady Macbeth when she conceived, and later bore, her daughter. She began feeling contractions onstage on 2 July 1959 and hurried 100 miles from London to her country home in the New Forest where she gave birth to Pamella Jameslyn the next day. She handed over her character as Lady Macbeth to her understudy with the intentions of returning after six weeks to take up her place as Lady Macbeth, but died on 6 July 1959, three days after giving birth due to a fall in which she sustained a broken neck. Pamella-Jane had been due to wed James Roberts (Pamella Jameslyn's father) the following month. Pamella Jameslyn was educated at the Fernhill Manor School for Girl in Hampshire. She later trained at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA) in London and the Bristol Old Vic. She was mentored by Peggy Ashcroft and Helen Holden-Dye. She took a long sabbatical from acting in 1979 to commit her time with her family.
