Matthew Ellis grew up in Boston and New England. He began acting in grade school, and continued with theater through arts program high school and performing as an adult in local theaters. His work has included both performance and award winning set design. As an adult Matthew has maintained his involvement in theater while working professionally in visual arts and design. Matthew apprenticed in museum conservation fine woodworking. Notably, he worked for several years as an apprentice and journeyman shipwright. (He landed his first film role with Roger Corman's New Concorde company while studying the conservation and preservation of historic traditional Celtic boats in Ireland). Matthew also studied design, illustration and new media, graduating from Massachusetts College of Art and Design, Boston. Matthew lives and works in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Matthew is a member of the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees (Local 480, New Mexico). He works with art departments in set design, construction, prop-making, and carpentry. Matthew also maintains his own design & fabrication studio, Pump Trolley Atelier Matthew plays guitar, flugelhorn, and has been training in martial arts since 1988.
