Tona Scherchen (also known as Tona Scherchen-Hsiao) is a Chinese-Swiss composer. She was born in Switzerland in 1938, the daughter of the conductor Hermann Scherchen and the composer Xiao Shuxian. First coming to prominence in the mid 1960s, she was among the first composers to combine elements of Chinese music with the European post-war avant-garde.
