Jake Horowitz is a Toronto-based writer, producer, and director. As a writer, Jake started his career with acclaim as a winner of the Shaw Media Writer's Apprentice Program at the Banff World Media Festival. In 2018 Jake wrote, directed, and produced his debut feature, All About Who You Know, starring David Hewlett, Dylan Everett, Niamh Wilson, and Stephen Joffe. It was distributed in the US by Gravitas Ventures, in Canada by Crave, and internationally by Myriad Pictures. The film won Best Screenplay at the Hamilton Film Festival and was an official selection at Cinequest, Cleveland International Film Festival, Canadian Film Fest, and more. In 2020 Jake directed, produced, and co-wrote his second feature, a Christmas satire called Cup of Cheer. As a producer Jake has been selected for a number of prestigious and high-profile industry development programs including as a JETS Award Winner at the Berlin Film Festival (Berlin, 2018, 2020) and FIN Partners (Halifax, 2019). In addition to his work in film and television, Jake has won awards for his stand-up comedy and is the published author of several short stories in various international anthologies, including the acclaimed collection The Unseen by Fincham Press. He holds a Bachelor of Journalism from Ryerson University in Toronto, and a Master's Degree in Creative Writing from University of Roehampton in London, UK.
