Arturo Féliz-Camilo (1977- ) was born in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. He has been involved in many fields. He has two law degrees and teaches History. Arturo is also a professional chef and an expert in Dominican and Caribbean food. He comes from a very traditional and ancient Dominican family, with roots in the island that dates back to the original inhabitants ("The Tainos") He's written about the mythical accounts from the Taino legends, "Santeria" and those things that make the very core of the African, white and Taino heritage melting pot that is the Dominican Republic's culture. He's involved in writing projects that include traditional and legendary tales, traditional cooking and cuisine, (He's the founder of elfogoncito.net) His pictures have been showcased by local and international outlets, such as Fodor's Travel guides, NBC Latino, Listin Diario, Periodico Hoy and many others. His books have received several awards including three Gourmand World Cookbook Awards.
