He attended same high school as alum and current NFL player Jabrill Peppers. He was also high school teammates with offensive lineman Juwann Bushell-Beatty. Rashan is enrolled in the College of Literature, Science and the Arts. As a freshman, Rashan started all 13 games, recording 27 tackles, with five of those for a loss. Coming out of high school, Rashan was ranked as the top prospect in the nation by Rivals.com, Scout.com and ESPN.
