Baxter McCory is an actor, director, and editor based in Los Angeles, CA. He also enjoys performing improv comedy and in drag as his drag persona, Velossa Raptor. Baxter grew up in Sunman, IN, a small town in rural Southeast Indiana. He is the oldest child of parents Monica and Monty McCory. He has one brother, York McCory, and two sisters, Brilan and Charsan McCory. Throughout childhood he was interested in film and television and would often make sketch shows called The McCory Show with his siblings. It was his father's love for filming family events that first got Baxter interested with film and television. Baxter attended Indiana University from 2014-2018 originally majoring in Biology to become a dentist. However, he switched majors at the start of his Junior year to Movie and Television Production and completed his B.A. in 2018. In his second semester of his Sophomore year, Baxter joined Indiana University's longest-running improv troupe, Full Frontal Comedy. Beside a chorus position in high school's performance of Grease in 2011, this was his first experience of performing and where he fell in love with performing, acting, and improvisational comedy. Upon graduating in 2018, Baxter moved to Los Angeles, California to pursue acting and comedy. He has trained at The Groundlings to hone his improvisation skills, and he currently resides in Los Angeles where he trains with acting coach, Constance Tillotson, and the rest of his #Tribe.
