Jathin Shankar Raj is a Tamil film director, cinematographer, and producer.His works includes music videos, TV commercials, business films and feature films. "Odu Raja Odu" is Jathin' first feature-length film as director, following several short works. Jathin Shankar Raj was born on July 10th, 1984 in Thrissur, Kerala, India. Born to Mr. E.M. Rajendran and Mrs. Boja Rajendran, he was brought up in Saudi Arabia. His parents from an early age on in his life exposed him to theatre, music and dance. Jathin's parents played a big part from his early life to bring him close to the world of art. Jathin's fascination with the film world began at the age of 10 when he watched a movie on the big screen for the first time on his vacation to India, as Saudi Arabia had a strict law against Cinema exhibition at that time. He would torment his cousins to take him to the movies and would watch up to three movies back to back. Jathin studied at the International Indian School, Riyadh and later graduated from VIT Vellore as an Engineer in Electronics and Communication. Jathin released his first short film in 2005, while in college. The film was entirely shot using a basic Sony digital camera. Taking inspiration from his surroundings, the theme of the film dealt with relationships and academics during the exam time. The short film was well received by the campus crowd. Jathin's time in LV Prasad Academy gave him a more professional experience about development and handling of film . In 2008, short film named "A Shot Film" was released that was shot entirely on film reel.
