DC's 2023 is coming. Are you ready for the gathering of superheroes?

Recently, Shazam! Fury of the Gods has released its latest trailer, which is still a "relaxed + funny" style. The last trailer made fun of The Fast and the Furious, and this trailer made fun of Game of Thrones, which is still the familiar Shazam, or that familiar DC, I feel DC's 2023 has come!🤩

Shazam! Fury of the Gods

Expectations: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Director: David F. Sandberg.

Cast: Zachary Levi/Asher Angel/Jack Dylan Grazer/Helen Mirren/Lucy Liu

Genre: Comedy/Action/Thriller/Adventure

The film was scheduled for June 2022 originally but was postponed to 2023 with a major adjustment in the schedule of the DC Cinematic Universe. Not only that, but DC also had a lot of personnel changes, James Gunn and Peter Safran took over, and Henry Cavill's Superman is not coming back. There will be no sequel to Black Adam, and the turbulence of the DC Universe is hard for fans to endure.

As the sequel will be released four years after the first film, the two male protagonists, Asher Angel, and Jack Dylan Grazer went through puberty and look very different from the first film, which will affect the audience's perception of the two characters who had not been popular.

Fortunately, the villain is worth expecting. Helen Mirren and Lucy Liu play the daughters of Atlas. They will bring new troubles and challenges to everyone with powerful magic and a dragon.

The Flash

Expectations: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Director: Andr Andrés Muschietti

Cast: Ezra Miller/Ron Livingston/Michael Keaton/Kiersey Clemons/Michael Shannon

Genre: Action/Sci-Fi/Fantasy/Adventure

Flashpoint, for all fans familiar with DC, is so important, but in decades of comics-adapted film history, The Flash has never had a live-action independent film. I always thought this was weird, after all, as an old member of the Justice League, The Flash is no less popular than Superman and Batman, but his cinematic process is too slow to match his skill. Fortunately, in 2023, the film version of The Flash is finally making progress.

Ezra Miller's debut as The Flash was in the 2016 film Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice. When the development of The Flash was put on the agenda in 2014, after several times directors changed, it ended up in the hands of a horror film director, Andrés Muschietti, who directed It.

The film was confirmed adapted from Flashpoint comics, which tells the story of The Flash going back to the past to save his mother but triggering a chain reaction with a slightly dark style.

The story of the film version may not be so dark, but judging from the information given by the trailer, it may still involve the key plot of "going back to the past and saving his mother." The trailer shows a scene that looks like The Flash's childhood residence. What more to expect is the return of Michael Keaton, the star of the 1989 version of Batman, and his classic battle suit. Sasha Calle's Supergirl, as a newcomer, also makes an appearance in the trailer.

And the two The Flashes in the same picture have also raised fans' expectations for the plot. As to whether a horror film director can make a blockbuster superhero movie again. Can DC go the right way this time? Will Ben Affleck's Batman appear? Can the two batmans appear together? Everything will be answered in 2023.

Blue Beetle

Expectations: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Director: Angel Manuel Soto

Cast: Xolo Maridue Maridueña/Bruna Marquezine/Susan Sarandon/Harvey Guillen

Genre: Action/Sci-Fi/Thriller/Adventure

This year's DC is full of uncertainties, and the previous timeline is likely to be overturned. After Warner Bros. announced that The Flash would be the last DCEU film, Blue Beetle became the first work of DC's re-planning universe.

As Gunn and Safran's first film to erase Snyder's traces, it foreshadows the future of DC, introducing not only a new character but the first Latino superhero in the DC Universe.

Jaime Reyes, the hero, is a Mexican teenager who turns into blue armor after a scarab enters his spine, and the story begins.

In the past DC universe, every time a different ethnic culture appeared, it would bring new blood. After all, The Flash, as a character deeply involved in Zack Snyder's Justice League, could hardly draw a clear line with the previous universe, while the new hero Blue Beetle has no such burden.

A message that cannot be ignored is in the comics, one of Reyes' mentors is Peacemaker, which makes people think. Although Blue Beetle looks more like a stand-alone work, we can at least expect that there may be Easter Eggs about Peacemaker in the film. Even if there is no intersection, it will at least leave a possibility. In addition, Susan Sarandon will play the villain, and how the veteran actor will portray the brand-new superhero is also a highlight.

Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom

Expectations: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Director: James Wan

Cast: Jason Momoa/Amber Heard/Ben Affleck/Nicole Kidman/Patrick Wilson

Genre: Action/Sci-Fi/Fantasy/Adventure

"Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom" has not been easy along the way, and the schedule has been delayed repeatedly, Amber and Depp's lawsuit, the rumor of the reshoot, and the news of the higher budget have all affected the film's production process.

This time, what new tricks will James Wan play, and what visual wonders will he create? After all, James Wan, who is good at making horror movies, had good chemistry with a superhero last time. And this time he may try more because Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom's important reference is Terrore Nello spazio, a 1965 Italian sci-fiction horror film.

It's hard to imagine that this type of movie can be associated with superheroes. I am looking forward to the final presentation. Of course, visual effects are still the biggest highlight. Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom uses brand-new underwater shooting technology to present a more bizarre underwater world.

In the early stages of filming, the project was named "Necrus." In the comics, it is a domed city that is hostile to terrestrial humans. When Atlantis decides to make peace with terrestrial humans, Necrus declares war on Atlantis.

This setting matches Terrore Nello spazio, so Necrus could be the "lost kingdom" mentioned in the title. In addition, the brand-new villain Shark and various new battle suits are all anticipated visual feasts.

Well, what other DC movies are you looking forward to in 2023? See you in the comments!
